Back Carry, Toss
A SPOTTER OR PRACTICE ON A BED UNTIL YOU'VE MASTERED IT. IF
YOU DO NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND THIS CARRY FROM THE PICTURE
TUTORIAL, PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO TUTORIAL HERE.
1) Holding the print side behind you towards
your bottom, tie the carrier to your waist in
the front, using a tight knot to keep it secure.
2) Hold the child facing you, resting on one hip.
3) Slowly and carefully, slide the child around your side
and to your back, bending over at the waist so
that the child lies flat on your back. Do not let go.
4) ALWAYS keeping one hand on the child,
slowly slide him or her down until your
waist is being straddled by the child's legs.
5) Continuing to hold the child with one hand,
bring the carrier up between the child's legs
and over his or her back with the other hand.
6) Grab the carrier's straps and pull each one over each
shoulder while straightening back into a standing position.
7) Bounce and pull on the straps until the child is securely
lowered into the carrier and close against your back.
8) Bring the straps under your arms, behind you,
and double-twist them at the child's back.
9) Bring the remainder of the straps under the
child's legs and back around to your front.
10) Make a tight knot, securing any remaining shoulder strap.
Instead of bringing the child around your side, you can also do a "toss" over the shoulder as follows:
using one arm to support across the chest,
and the other to support under the bottom.
Slowly and carefully, flip the child feet-first over
your shoulder, bending over at the waist so that
the child lies flat on your back. Do not let go.
Continue following the instructions from 4) above.
Go forth and babywear!
